Two days ago whilst commuting, I bumped against this churchly hymn. Mulej f’idejk translated to something like ‘in your hands, o Lord’.

The term, even when not used with the Lord – but with anyone per se – means that you’re giving someone some form of responsibility or task. More than that, you’re trusting them with it.

Many times, when asked how I feel about my relationship with God/Creator since my brother passed away last year (and my father 19 years ago), I tell people that I trust God. I don’t necessarily understand Him or always agree with him. I mean, I would definitely have preferred to have both my dad and my big bro alive at this stage, right? Who wouldn’t? So no, while I wouldn’t necessarily understand or agree with God on how things went, I do trust Him.

And this doesn’t apply merely to the deaths of my dad and brother. It applies to all other things that happened to me in life, both the positive experiences (easy, of course) and the negative ones. I trust God knows what He’s “doing” (between quotes, because it’s not like it’s directly Him doing this stuff, but allowing it to happen). I trust Him means I do my part as a human-being. I do my best.

After and beyond that it’s Mulej f’idejk! 🙂
