the importance of Doubt

It is very important to question yourself. Your beliefs, your idealogies, your mentality, your hobbies, your way of life, your opinions.

Why?

Because the universe is dynamic. Which means it is constantly moving and changing. And therefore so is the world, and all the things within it that affect you. Things change, yes. So, what may have been reasonable or decent or needed or helpful or true for you 20 years ago, or yesterday, may not apply today.

And it’s not just you we’re talking about here. It is also others. You might have said something to someone in the past, and it applied and helped them. But that doesn’t mean that today it will help others the same way it did before; or that very same person, or yourself!

This is crucial fact to keep in mind. Because if you stick to what applied to you or others in the past, you are not ready for the future. And worst of all: you are not ready to converse, not ready to listen.

And that’s bad. Very bad. You need to listen, to question yourself, to put to doubt what you think you already know. If you want to gain personal growth, of course. And the easiest way to do that is to enter conversation with others, where you listen more than you speak, and speak to learn not to convince.

Learn, not convince.

Learn, not convince.

Be humble. Be wrong. Be in doubt.

That’s the best chance you’ve got to grow.
